I’ve struggled with my acne prone skin for a long time and feel like I’ve tried every skincare range there is under $30. When Tucker’s mom introduced me to the Clear Days Ahead by Philosophy line I was willing to give it a try – it couldn’t be any worse than anything else I have tried, right? I was beyond pleasantly surprised within the first week of using these two products and have incorporated other winning products into my skincare routine. Keep reading for my full review on the Clear Days Ahead gel cleanser and spot treatment and for more information on my full skincare regimen!
In the past, I’ve struggled with picking the right cleanser for my skin. I currently have combination-oily skin, but that hasn’t always been the case. Your skin texture naturally changes every so often, for some more often than others, so it’s important to pay attention to your skin’s needs. For oily and acne prone skin, most people recommend using a gel cleanser because there isn’t a lot of extra moisture and added ingredients that can clog pores and make oily skin even oilier. Like I alluded to earlier, I’ve tried many cleansers, both gel and cream cleansers, and have shied away from gel cleansers because the ones I had used before turned my oily skin into a dry, dry, super dry version of my skin. Having tried Philosophy products before and enjoying them combined with Tucker mom’s raving recommendation, I figured it couldn’t hurt to try the Clear Days Ahead cleanser.
That was back in January and I’ve since become obsessed. Unlike other gel cleansers, the Clear Days Ahead cleanser leaves your skin feeling clean, not dry. If you have oily or acne-prone skin then you know that there is a HUGE distinction between these two feelings. I wash my face with this cleanser at night while in the shower, sometimes using my Clarisonic Mia or just my hands. I started washing my face in the shower, rather than after, a few years ago when I read a few articles online recommending doing this especially if they have clogged pores because the steam from the shower helps open up your pores and allows the cleanser to really clean them out. Whether or not this is actually has any merit, I don’t know, but I’ve gotten into the habit of doing this and it’s wildly convenient, ha!
Like the cleanser, the Clear Days Ahead spot treatment is also a gel. In the past, the gel acne spot treatments I’ve used have been incredibly harsh and seemed to cause more damage to the skin surrounding a breakout than to the break out itself. I was pleasantly surprised by this treatment. When you first put it on breakouts, you can feel a slight stinging feeling, but only on the blemish, not the skin surrounding it. I appreciate the stinging sensation because it makes me feel like it’s doing its job, which it is. When using this product, most break outs are completely gone in two days (as long as I remember to stop picking at my skin).
Because of these products and the results I have seen by using them, I have come to really value taking good care of my skin. Here is my complete skincare routine briefly:
