Sticker shock is real, y’all. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve browsed the Internet for a particular item only to be shocked at the price tag. Today, I’m going to be sharing the things that I think are worth paying extra for, they are worth the investment. The items I am sharing with you today are from a variety of categories, but are worth the extra bucks in my mind.
I had a completely different post planned for today, a drink recipe, but couldn’t come to write it up. I wondered why it was so hard to come up with the words to describe a rather tasty drink. My heart wasn’t in it and frankly it just didn’t seem important today. All I wanted to do when I got up this morning was to continue to lay in bed and alternate between reading a book and watching reruns of Friends. I needed to take care of myself today, which is why this post is coming at you later in the day. Today, I’m sharing with you how you can incorporate little acts of self-care in your routine.
My heart hurts for those we lost on Sunday in Las Vegas. After very long conversations with my mom and my friends about the events that transpired, I was steadfast in my conviction to help. Amidst exhaustion from a tear-soaked morning, I logged onto redcrossblood.org and made my appointment to give blood. It is in times of grief, mourning, loss, exhaustion and stress that we must take the extra step to take care of ourselves as we care for others. One saying that I’ve heard many times in the last few weeks stands out to me: you cannot pour from an empty glass. One of the ways I’ve been able to catch a second wind and get a temporary peace of mind is reading. That is why I’m sharing these book recommendations with you today – so that when you feel your glass being emptied you have the confidence to pick up a book and give back to yourself a little bit.

I will be the first to admit that I get an intoxicating pleasure browsing the counters at Sephora and making a purchase. However, my budget doesn’t always allow me to try a new $30 powder. The brands found at the drugstore (think Target, Walmart, Walgreens and Ulta) have upped their game in the last two years or so. Many products under the $15 dollar mark can compete with if not exceed the quality and performance of many products that cost at least twice as much. Today, I’m sharing the drugstore makeup items I’m currently using and loving. In every product category, I will also be sharing other drugstore items that I have tried and loved to give you some options while you’re shopping. What is your current favorite makeup item?
I first created my bullet journal back in April after I realized that my current planner wasn’t working for me in the way that I wanted to. This was also about the time when I discovered the many, many creative Bullet Journal layouts that are all over Pinterest. In the nearly 6 months I have used my Bullet Journal, I have experimented with both artistically creative and functional layouts. As you can imagine, the layout of my Journal has changed drastically and today I’m going to explain why it has changed so much. I will also be showcasing the layouts that work for me, I enjoy and keep track of things I find useful and/or fun.
Brunch options are some of my favorite options, they’re the perfect marry of sweet and savory. Nearly every time I’m eating brunch I’m either having shrimp and grits or some form of eggs benedict. This recipe was born out of necessity. I wanted a filling breakfast that I could make at home in under ten minutes, this recipe fills all of those criteria and is easily customizable depending on your personal taste preferences and what you have in your fridge. Easy peasy!
