Hello, my friends! Rather than share a more structured informative post at the beginning of my progressive comeback into my Internet space, I thought “let’s chat.” In this edition of Life Lately, I’m sharing the biggest highlights of the last five months. 2018 has been an interesting year, a lot has happened globally, nationally, personally, professionally and every other -ally way you may be able to imagine. I want to hear from you! Let me know what’s been going on with you lately down in the comments or shoot me an email at email@example.com – I’d love to chat 🙂
As you from my most recent post, I’m no longer working in the retail space and find myself in marketing. Since May, the amount I write for clients and the team has skyrocketed, which y’all know I love. As a wordsmith, there are few things I enjoy more than putting together the right words in the best order, but I’ve missed doing so for me. I’m looking forward to seeing how releasing my creativity back in my comfortable space on the Internet translates into utilizing those skills for work and vice versa.
Something new that I’m trying out is attending networking events and workshops. Before you scratch your head and ask “But why?”, get the image of folks standing around in suits in a conference room at some hotel out of your brain. I attended my first networking event/seminar one short week ago – it was a seminar lead by the wonderful Creative Mornings Nashville folks. After about ten minutes in the space, I knew I had found my people. Whether or not you consider yourself creative in any capacity, I cannot recommend enough that you attend at least one event. Yes, the day has finally come. I am now a proud Costco member. I could write a small novel dedicated solely to my love for the warehouse store – I’ll spare you the details. Since becoming a member two-ish months ago, I’ve found that I shop smarter at all stores. I look more closely at price per ounce or unit rather than just overall cost, I buy things we go through quickly in bulk to cut down on trips to the store and I am very receptive to other shoppers’ suggestions (someone suggested these dogs treats for Jace, he loves them). If you’re an avid Costco shopper, what are your favorite things to pick up? Things we pick up regularly: shredded cheese, milk, cleaning supplies and tortillas.
Half Marathon Training
I’ve been chatting about this over on Instagram quite a bit and have somehow left this bit of information off of my blog: I’M RUNNING A HALF MARATHON! If ‘yikes’ was your initial reaction, then it wouldn’t be much different than how I felt about it until about three weeks ago. I signed up for it on a whim in April, expecting other friends and family to jump on board. Days waiting turned into weeks and then months before I came to terms with what I already knew: I would be running this half-marathon alone. As I’ve gone through training up to this point, I’ve realized a lot of things about my body’s capabilities and my intrinsic motivations for running this race (like fundraising). Once I finish the race and decompress a bit, expect posts on my overall experience and how I trained.
Things I’m Currently Enjoying
Listening to: Loving the Bon Appétit Foodcast – how could it get much better than listening to people talk about food so lovingly? The answer is it doesn’t get much better.
Eating: BarkThins dark chocolate, almond and sea salt – yes, they are as dreamy as they sound. Since it’s dark chocolate and slightly salty, it’s very easy to eat only a few pieces and not go overboard.
Watching: FALL TV IS BACK! Here are all of the new things I’m watching: The Good Doctor, The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, Will & Grace and Supernatural. On Netflix, I’m watching Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown.
I am so excited to get comfortably and cozy back in this corner of the Internet. My lifestyle has changed quite a bit in 2018 and I am very eager to share bits and pieces of that with you. If there is anything you’d like to see or just want to say hi, comment down below, reach out on social or shoot me an email – I can’t wait to talk to you! In the coming months, I am reviving my email list. If you want to get me on a more personal level and hear some probably deep and definitely silly thoughts, make sure to subscribe (you can always unsubscribe and I will only ever use your email to send you newsletters).
So tell me, what’s new with you?
