My heart hurts for those we lost on Sunday in Las Vegas. After very long conversations with my mom and my friends about the events that transpired, I was steadfast in my conviction to help. Amidst exhaustion from a tear-soaked morning, I logged onto redcrossblood.org and made my appointment to give blood. It is in times of grief, mourning, loss, exhaustion and stress that we must take the extra step to take care of ourselves as we care for others. One saying that I’ve heard many times in the last few weeks stands out to me: you cannot pour from an empty glass. One of the ways I’ve been able to catch a second wind and get a temporary peace of mind is reading. That is why I’m sharing these book recommendations with you today – so that when you feel your glass being emptied you have the confidence to pick up a book and give back to yourself a little bit.
Each of the book titles is hyperlinked to the book’s page on Goodreads that includes a summary of the title and where it is available for purchase. I don’t make any money off of those links, I’m just really obsessed with Goodreads. If we haven’t connected on there yet and you would like to, add me as a friend! Happy reading and take care of yourself today.
I know today’s post isn’t a long one because, like I’m recommending to you, I’m taking care of myself. If reading a book or blogs, watching Disney movies, cooking everything in your kitchen, baking or whatever else will make you happy and allow you to disconnect for a little bit, please do it today. I will link up the previous 2 Blogtober posts for you if you’d like to give them a read: A Look Inside my Bullet Journal and My Drugstore Makeup Favorites.
